Day trip from Valencia by coach to two of the most spectacular spots on the Costa Blanca. Altea, «the Santorini of Spain», with its white old town facing the Mediterranean, and Guadalest, the medieval village perched above a turquoise reservoir. Departure from Mestalla with a ValenciaTribe coordinator.
If there’s one day trip from Valencia that has it all — spectacular beaches, a picture-postcard white village and a medieval castle above a reservoir — it’s Altea and Guadalest. Two destinations, two completely different experiences, and a day you won’t forget.
With ValenciaTribe you travel by private coach, with a coordinator and a community of travellers like you: Erasmus students, international residents and locals who want to discover the most beautiful corners of the Valencia region.
Altea is love at first sight. Its old town, perched on a hill above the sea, is a maze of cobbled streets, whitewashed houses with flowerpots and the iconic church of Our Lady of Consuelo with its blue-and-white tiled dome — the most recognisable image of the Valencian Mediterranean.

Wandering Altea’s historic centre means discovering a town devoted to art: galleries, ceramic workshops, local craft shops and sea-view terraces where time seems to stop. From the church viewpoint, the views of the Mediterranean and the silhouette of the Peñón de Ifach in the distance are simply stunning.
Below, Altea’s promenade and its beaches of white pebbles and crystal-clear water complete a scene that explains why it’s called the «Santorini of Spain».

Guadalest is one of the most visited villages in Spain, and for good reason. Set in the mountains 25 km from the sea, this medieval village sits on a towering rock above the Guadalest reservoir — turquoise water that looks like something from a dream.
You enter the old town through a tunnel carved into the rock. Inside, the San José castle, themed museums, views of the reservoir from the viewpoint and streets lined with local products (honey, almonds, artisan turrón) make Guadalest a unique stop.

The contrast between the green pines, the turquoise reservoir and the ochre rock is one of the most photographed landscapes in the Valencia region. Guadalest has something almost unreal: a village that seems to float between sky and water.
Times are approximate and may vary with traffic.
Comfortable shoes for cobbles and slopes (essential in Guadalest and Altea), comfortable clothes, sunscreen, a swimsuit if you want a dip in Altea and some cash for optional museums and lunch.
Guadalest has some steep slopes but is perfectly enjoyable for families, and so is Altea. We recommend shoes with good grip.
About 2 hours in Guadalest and 4 hours in Altea, including lunch time.
Yes, Altea’s beach is a few minutes from the old town. Wear your swimsuit under your clothes to make the most of the time.
From Mestalla stadium (Avenida de Aragón, Valencia). The exact time is in your booking confirmation.
Yes. Most people come solo, and it’s the easiest way to meet new people in Valencia.
If there is a weather warning or unsafe conditions, we let you know in advance and offer a new date or a refund.
Altea and Benidorm, Algar waterfalls and Altea or the Mascarat canyon hike.
