Cartagena: Roman Theatre, walls and harbour

The Roman Theatre of Cartagena, rediscovered in 1988 beneath the old quarter, is one of the best preserved in Spain. Nearby are the Punic Wall, the Concepción castle overlooking the bay and the Modernist streets of the city centre.

Stroll along the harbour of Cartagena, a naval base for centuries, with its waterfront promenade and Isaac Peral’s submarine.

Murcia: Cathedral, Real Casino and local food

In the afternoon we reach Murcia. Santa María Cathedral blends Gothic, Renaissance and an imposing Baroque façade. A few steps away, the Real Casino surprises with its Arab courtyard, library and ballroom.

Free time for tapas: try a zarangollo, a marinera or a Murcian pastel de carne.
