Polpís Castle: Templar history in the Serra d’Irta

High in the Serra d’Irta, above Santa Magdalena de Polpís, stand the remains of Polpís Castle. Conquered in 1233 by the Templar Master and later held by the Order of Montesa, it still has parts of its walls, the cistern and the gate. It is an irregular fortress of about 2,200 m², with a central courtyard, a keep and the ruins of the old settlement.

The hike

A mountain route climbing from the village to the castle, with views of the range and the sea. It requires basic fitness and proper footwear. If you have questions about distance or elevation, message us on WhatsApp before booking.
