Imagine a whole day on a Mediterranean island with turquoise water, pirate history and the best snorkeling on the coast. That’s Tabarca island, less than 3 hours from Valencia. With ValenciaTribe everything is organised: private coach, a coordinator with you and a community vibe from the start.

Tabarca is the largest island in the Valencia region and the only inhabited one. Declared a Mediterranean Marine Reserve in 1986, its waters are a biodiversity sanctuary home to sea bream, moray eels, octopus and thousands of colourful fish. It’s one of the most special places you can visit on a day trip from Valencia.

Tabarca has several beaches and coves with white sand and transparent water. Playa Grande is perfect for lying back and switching off. The coves on the north side are ideal for snorkeling: spectacular visibility and fish just metres from the shore. No need for your own gear — there are shops on the island renting masks and fins.
In the 18th century Tabarca became a walled town built on the orders of King Charles III to protect Genoese fishermen brought over from Barbary. Today its walls, the Church of Saints Peter and Paul, the San José tower and the old town of whitewashed houses form a protected Site of Cultural Interest. Walking its narrow streets is literally travelling back in time.
Tabarca’s waters have been a Marine Reserve since 1986, so fishing is banned and marine life has flourished spectacularly. You’ll see shoals of sea bream, damselfish, barracuda and, if you’re lucky, a sea turtle. It’s one of the best snorkeling experiences on Spain’s Mediterranean coast — no diving needed.
Tabarca is famous for its caldero, a local rice stew with fresh fish. The island’s restaurants also serve fried fish, prawns and grilled octopus, with options for every budget. You can also bring your own food and enjoy a spot with sea views.
Times may vary slightly with traffic or sea conditions.
Swimsuit, sunscreen, comfortable shoes, water shoes (recommended for getting into the sea), towel, cash for the boat and lunch, and plenty of enthusiasm.
Yes, Tabarca is very family-friendly. The boat has underwater viewing windows, which makes the crossing fun for little ones. Children under 4 travel free on the boat.
Check the available dates above. Tabarca has frequent departures in the summer season (June to September).
Online payment is by card. If you’d rather pay in person, message us on WhatsApp and we’ll explain how.
About 6.5 hours — enough to swim, snorkel, have lunch and explore the old town at a relaxed pace.
Tabarca lies off Santa Pola (Alicante): first you need to reach Santa Pola port, about two hours from Valencia by road, then take the boat to the island. By public transport that means several connections, so on this trip you leave by coach from Mestalla stadium and we drop you at the port, ready to board.
From Mestalla stadium (Avenida de Aragón, Valencia). The exact time is in your booking confirmation.
Yes. Most people come solo, and it’s the easiest way to meet new people in Valencia.
If there is a weather warning or unsafe conditions, we let you know in advance and offer a new date or a refund.
