Join the waiting listSome Costa Blanca towns have kept their charm despite mass tourism. Moraira is one of them. Without Benidorm’s big hotels or Calpe’s crowds, this small Alicante town offers something increasingly hard to find in the Mediterranean: crystal-clear coves without the crowds, a town with its own character and beaches that look straight out of a secret-spots guide.
With ValenciaTribe you discover Moraira by private coach, with a coordinator and people just as keen to enjoy the day as you.
Moraira boasts some of the best coves on the Costa Blanca. Cala Llebeig, reachable only on foot or by boat, is a paradise of turquoise water over a rocky seabed that looks like the Caribbean. El Portet beach, in a small sheltered bay, combines fine sand with the calm of a cove away from the tourist rush. El Arenal is the town’s main beach, perfect for families.

Moraira’s water has exceptional visibility and is ideal for snorkeling. If you love exploring the seabed, this is your stop. You can rent gear in town.

Moraira’s centre is small and easy to explore on foot. The marina, with its moored boats and seafront terraces, feels sophisticated and relaxed at the same time. Local shops, ice-cream parlours and Mediterranean restaurants complete a perfect morning or afternoon.
Moraira castle, an 18th-century fortress built to protect the coast from Barbary pirates, overlooks El Arenal beach with panoramic sea views. It’s free to visit.
Don’t leave without trying arroz a banda, grilled octopus or freshly opened coquinas (clams) at one of the port restaurants.
Times are approximate and may vary with traffic.
It depends what you want. Moraira is much quieter, with smaller coves and cleaner water. Benidorm has more facilities but also more people. For an authentic Mediterranean beach day, Moraira wins.
Swimsuit, sunscreen, towel, comfortable shoes, water shoes if you want to get in from the rocks, and cash for lunch and optional activities.
About 6.5 hours in Moraira — enough to visit several coves, eat well and explore the town.
